    1. Metabolic testing used to be more common than it is today. The Metabolor was a spirometer that you filled with 100% oxygen and then a patient breathed through it. There was an absorber for CO2 inside (soda lime), so the rate the oxygen disappeared gave you the patient’s oxygen consumption. Basal metabolic tests are still performed, but with quite different equipment (basically modified exercise test systems). If it was in good to excellent condition with all its parts a collector might be interested.
